Christmas day has come,
the presents under the tree
I'm waiting for my turn
impatiently...

I reach for a gift
I think I know what it is

Its Christmas & I got a new video game
I'm gonna play it through the night
and into the next day

Gonna get lost for a moment,
in another type of world.
Forget about the outside,
the snow is so cold.
It's a memory I'll cherish,

and feel the warmth in my soul.
Family all around me,
conversating.
I love them all,
but I'm only focused on one thing.
I remember when I was thirteen,
I got my first game console.
It was a red Nintendo Wii
from my Grand-Mama up north
It's the simple pleasures,
that keep us warm when winter's cold.
A cup of peppermint hot chocolate,
and don't forget the marshmellows.

My uncle asked me what I'm playin.
"I'm playin that new Zelda game."
They said they got it when they were my age
and they loved it just the same.
These shared experiences remind us of the bonds that tie our souls
No matter how young you might be,
and no matter how old.

Maybe it's just a plastic cartridge
held within a plastic case
Maybe I'm just a sack of meat
with no soul behind my face
Maybe that warm hot chocolate cup is just a sense that you intake
But I think if you viewed the world like this,
then you're makin' a very big mistake.
